Sen. Kennedy Says Democrats Choose Spending Porn Over Taxpayers and Other One-Liners [WATCH]

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) called out Democratic lawmakers on Tuesday for attacking Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk and President Donald Trump over their efforts to eliminate wasteful federal spending.. Speaking on the issue, Kennedy said Trump and Musk’s efforts to cut excessive government programs, including funding through USAID, reflect the will of the American people, even if they face opposition in Washington.. “I’m unapologetically with Trump and Musk. Among the blue hairs and the opinion writers in Washington, we’re losing. We’re winning with the American people and I think the big picture should not go unnoticed,” Kennedy said.. Dennis Quaid’s #1 Warning for Americans. Kennedy accused Democratic lawmakers of prioritizing bureaucracy and reckless spending over the interests of taxpayers.. “Some people, mostly my Democratic colleagues, have chosen to support the bureaucracy and the spending porn over the American taxpayer,” Kennedy said.. “These are the same folks who chose to support illegal immigration over the rule of law, who chose to support teacher’s unions over school and kids, who chose to support criminals over crime victims, who chose to support transgender athletes over women’s sports. Frankly, who chose to support Hamas over Israel. Now they think they’re winning, and they may be in the bubble of Washington, but not among the taxpayers.”. Kennedy’s comments come amid Democratic outrage over Trump and Musk’s decision to dismantle USAID on Feb. 3.. Are You Confident The Economy Will Improve Under Donald Trump’s Leadership?. The agency has been criticized for its billions in foreign aid spending, including a $2 million grant for sex change operations in Guatemala and the distribution of millions of contraceptives abroad.. Following the decision to shut down USAID, Trump appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio as acting director to oversee the transition.. Democratic lawmakers gathered outside the Treasury Department on Feb. 4 in protest, with some making heated remarks about Musk and the Trump administration’s policies.. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) claimed that dismantling USAID would lead to deaths, while Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) accused Musk of being a “Nazi nutball baby” and a “godless, lawless billionaire.”. Meanwhile, Sens. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Andy Kim (D-NJ) warned that Trump’s actions had triggered a “constitutional crisis.” Kim went as far as to threaten a government shutdown over the issue.. Trump has made it clear that his administration is just getting started. Following the elimination of USAID, he announced plans to direct Musk and DOGE to audit the Department of Education and the military, targeting additional areas of excessive government spending.. Kennedy highlighted Democratic hypocrisy, pointing out that the same lawmakers now opposing Trump’s audits had previously supported President Joe Biden’s plan to hire 87,000 IRS agents in 2022.. “The same people who are screaming at Trump for auditing federal spending are the same people under President Biden who wanted to hire 80,000 IRS agents with guns to audit the American people. I find that breathtakingly hypocritical,” Kennedy said.. As legal challenges arise against Trump’s executive actions, Kennedy expressed confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court and federal appeals courts will fairly decide which orders are legally sound.. With Trump and Musk continuing to push for more transparency and efficiency in government spending, the battle over federal bureaucracy and budget reform is far from over.
