Democrat Scandal Brewing as Regret Over Electing David Hogg as DNC Vice Chair Sinks in

Less than two weeks after being elected as a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), David Hogg is already facing backlash from within his own party.

Insiders accuse the 24-year-old activist of leveraging his new role for personal fundraising, raising concerns among party officials.

According to reports, Hogg has been using the DNC’s contact lists to solicit donations for Leaders We Deserve PAC, a political action committee (PAC) he co-founded in August 2023.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show that the organization provides Hogg with a six-figure salary, with payments totaling over $175,000 since its founding. In December alone, he reportedly received more than $20,000.

A top Democratic insider voiced frustration over Hogg’s actions, telling The New York Post, “David Hogg — talk about living up to your name. A trough of DNC dollars all for him, and he doesn’t seem to give an oink.”

Hogg, a vocal gun control activist who rose to prominence after surviving the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, has positioned himself as a champion for young progressive candidates.

His PAC claims to focus on electing young Democrats to Congress and state legislatures, but his decision to prioritize personal PAC fundraising over DNC efforts has raised concerns within party leadership.

In at least eight text messages sent to the DNC’s database, Hogg announced his new position while soliciting donations for Leaders We Deserve.

One of the texts read, “David Hogg here: I was just elected DNC Vice Chair! This is a huge win for our movement to make the Democratic Party more reflective of our base: youthful, energetic, and ready to win.”

While personal PAC fundraising is not explicitly against party rules, some Democratic officials are questioning the ethics of his actions.

“It’s especially important for all Democratic national officials to focus on raising support for the party and not using their position to raise money for themselves or their personal political PACs,” a senior Democratic official told The New York Post.

“It’s a stunning lack of judgment that is concerning to many people.”

Hogg’s rapid ascent within the DNC has not been without criticism.

His appointment as vice chair has drawn scrutiny from those who question his experience and political judgment.

In recent years, he has advocated for far-left policies such as defunding the police and abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

Cameron Kasky, another survivor of the Parkland shooting and a former ally of Hogg, voiced frustration over his leadership role.

“I mean, it’s just very frustrating to be in a party in desperate need of increased accountability for our struggling leadership and watch someone who is never held accountable ascend to leadership,” Kasky told The New York Post.

As tensions rise within the Democratic Party, Hogg’s handling of his new role and the controversy surrounding his fundraising tactics continue to draw scrutiny.

Whether the party will take action against him remains to be seen.
