Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) made a series of racially charged remarks during an appearance on CNN’s Laura Coates Live on Monday night, declaring that she is “tired of the white tears” and attacking “mediocre white boys” in response to news about a Trump administration appointment.. During the interview, Crockett claimed that “the people that commit 80% of the most violent crimes in this country are white supremacists” and accused President Donald Trump of being a white supremacist himself.. Crockett’s remarks came after host Laura Coates asked for her reaction to the appointment of Darren Beattie, founder of Revolver News and a former White House speechwriter, to the role of Acting Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in the Trump administration.. Celebrate Trump’s Historic 2024 Victory with the Exclusive Trump 47th President Collection!. Beattie, who was dismissed from his position as a speechwriter in 2018 after reports surfaced of him speaking at a conference attended by white nationalists, has remained a vocal critic of identity politics.. Coates referenced a past post by Beattie that had resurfaced online, which stated:. “Competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work. Unfortunately, our entire national ideology is predicated on coddling the feelings of women and minorities, and demoralizing competent white men.”. Asked to respond, Crockett launched into a tirade, calling for Beattie’s removal from his newly appointed position and making broad accusations against white Americans.. “He needs to go. I mean, this is very simple. We right now have a white supremacist that is sitting in the White House. He is backed up by other white supremacists,” Crockett said.. She went on to claim, “If you really want to know who the criminals are in this country, you can Google it. You don’t have to trust me. But the people that commit 80% of the most violent crimes in this country are white supremacists.”. At one point, Coates attempted to interrupt, reminding Crockett that President Trump had fired Beattie in 2018 after the controversy surrounding his speech at the white nationalist-attended event.. “Of course, Congresswoman, I’m going to interrupt you, but President Trump, of course, has denied any allegations of the white supremacists, and that’s why he—”. Crockett cut her off, saying, “I don’t care what he says. I don’t care what he says.”. When Coates noted that Trump had already removed Beattie from his previous position, Crockett dismissed the point entirely.. “No, it doesn’t change my opinion because we saw what he literally recently just posted. And the coddling is for the white boys. That’s what’s happening right now. I am tired of the white tears.”. Crockett further suggested that efforts to defund Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were part of a broader attack on black Americans and their political influence.. “We know why they created the HBCUs in the first place. It was because they wouldn’t allow us into the white institutions,” Crockett said.. “And so now they’re not allowing us in. And now they’re saying, you know what, we’re also going to defund the HBCUs. You know why? Because they don’t want any more Kamala Harris’s. They don’t want any more Jasmine Crockett’s.”. She went on to say, “If you want to talk about the people that shouldn’t be in this country, you probably need to look in the mirror.”. Crockett’s remarks have already drawn attention for their racially divisive tone, as she appeared to broadly label white Americans as colonizers, regardless of their actual ancestry.. For the record, President Trump’s maternal and paternal ancestors immigrated to the United States long after the era of colonization.. His mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, immigrated from Scotland in 1930, while his paternal grandfather, Frederick Trump, arrived from Germany in 1885.
